Baked Penne
Tube pasta baked with cheese, tomato sauce, and protein in a casserole. Finished in the oven until bubbly and golden on top.
Ingredients
Method
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook penne according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully cooked and browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Combine cooked penne with the turkey–sauce mixture in the skillet or a large bowl.
Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top, then sprinkle parmesan over the mozzarella.
Bake uncovered for 25–35 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden on top.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
