Cuban Picadillo Hash
A hash of seasoned ground meat, sofrito, and diced vegetables served over a starchy base. Browned and served warm with optional toppings.
Ingredients
Method
Dice the onion, mince the garlic, and cut the starchy vegetables into 1/4-inch cubes.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground meat and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and no pink remains, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Reduce heat to medium. Stir in the sofrito, diced onion, and garlic; cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the diced vegetables and ketchup. Stir to combine and cook for 12–15 minutes until vegetables are tender and the mixture is thick and cohesive, stirring occasionally.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Spoon the hash over the cooked starchy base. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.
