Fettuccine Alfredo
Creamy, luxurious pasta with a silky sauce of butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese. A classic Italian comfort dish that's endlessly customizable with swappable proteins, vegetables, and pasta types.
Ingredients
Method
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente, then drain and set aside, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
If using protein and/or vegetables, prepare and cook them now (pan-fry, grill, sauté, or steam as needed) and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook for 2–3 minutes.
Remove the skillet from heat. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese in handfuls, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, whisk in a few tablespoons of reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss gently to coat. If using protein and/or vegetables, fold them in now.
Divide onto serving plates or bowls. Garnish with fresh parsley, extra Parmesan, and black pepper. Serve immediately while hot and creamy.
