Pasta coated in a simple sauce of melted butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese. Customizable with protein, vegetables, and fresh herbs for infinite variations.
Ingredients
Method
Mince garlic cloves and grate parmesan cheese. Chop fresh parsley if using. Prepare any proteins or vegetables to add.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta cooking water before draining.
In a skillet or saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook, stirring frequently, until garlic is fragrant and very lightly golden, about 2 minutes. Do not allow garlic to brown.
Add cooked pasta to the butter and garlic, tossing to coat. If using a protein or vegetables, add them now and toss again. Add 2–4 tablespoons of reserved pasta water to create a light sauce consistency.
Remove from heat. Stir in grated parmesan cheese until fully melted and combined. Taste and season with salt and black pepper.
Divide pasta among serving bowls. Garnish with fresh parsley, lemon zest, and additional parmesan if desired. Serve warm.
