Mac and Cheese Casserole
Baked pasta with cheese sauce, butter, and milk. Assembled in a casserole dish and oven-baked until golden and bubbling.
Ingredients
Method
Preheat oven to 375°F. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until just al dente, about 1 minute under package time. Drain and set aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tbsp butter. Whisk in flour to form a paste and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Gradually whisk in milk, stirring to avoid lumps. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring often, until sauce thickens.
Remove from heat. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika if using.
Combine cooked pasta and cheese sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish, stirring gently to coat evenly.
Toss breadcrumbs with 2 tbsp melted butter and optional parmesan. Sprinkle evenly over pasta.
Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until topping is golden brown and edges are bubbling. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
