Tostadas
Crispy fried tortillas topped with seasoned protein, beans, and fresh vegetables. Assembled cold or warm with sauce and cheese.
Ingredients
Method
Shred lettuce and dice tomato and red onion; chop cilantro. Set vegetables on a serving surface or in separate bowls.
Cook and season the protein: if using ground meat, brown it in a skillet over medium-high heat, drain excess fat, and stir in taco seasoning. If using beans, warm them and lightly mash. Set aside.
Warm refried beans in a small saucepan or microwave until spreadable. Whisk sour cream with a squeeze of lime juice if desired.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Working one at a time, fry each tortilla 20–30 seconds per side until crispy and lightly golden. Transfer to a paper towel.
Spread 2–3 tbsp warm refried beans on each crispy tortilla.
Layer seasoned protein over beans, then top with shredded cheese.
Add lettuce, tomato, red onion, and cilantro on top. Spoon salsa over the vegetables.
Serve immediately. Offer sour cream and lime wedges on the side.
