Cuban Sandwich Lettuce Wrap
Lettuce wrap filled with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles, pressed warm. Swappable proteins and toppings create multiple regional variations of this handheld sandwich.
Ingredients
Method
Arrange butter lettuce leaves on a clean surface. Pat dry with paper towels if wet.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season pork strips with salt, pepper, minced garlic, and cumin.
Cook pork strips in the hot skillet for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through (internal temperature 145°F). Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, warm the ham slices briefly over medium heat for 1–2 minutes until warmed through. Remove and set aside.
Lay one lettuce leaf flat. Spread 0.5 tsp mustard on the leaf near the center.
Layer warm pork strips, a piece of ham, one slice of cheese, and a small handful of pickles in the center of the lettuce leaf.
Fold the lettuce leaf around the filling, tucking in the sides to form a wrap. Repeat with remaining lettuce leaves and filling.
Serve warm, cut in half if desired. Optionally press wraps briefly in a warm skillet for 1–2 minutes per side for a firm exterior.
