Ingredients
Method
Measure flour and transfer to a shallow oven-safe dish. Heat in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes, stirring halfway through, until warmed. Remove and cool completely before using, or use heat-treated pasteurized flour from the store.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
Stir in vanilla extract and salt until combined.
Fold in the cooled flour until no dry streaks remain. The dough will be thick.
Fold in your chosen mix-in ingredient until evenly distributed.
Transfer to a serving bowl and serve immediately at room temperature, or refrigerate for 30 minutes for a firmer texture. Eat with a spoon.
