French Onion Beef Sliders
Slider sandwiches topped with caramelized onions, melted cheese, and beef. Warm, soft bread holds tender beef and deep-brown onion jam with savory cheese.
Ingredients
Method
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and salt; cook uncovered for 30–35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are deep golden brown and very soft.
Pour in beef broth and add thyme sprigs. Simmer for 5–8 minutes until liquid has reduced by half. Remove thyme sprigs. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions. Form each into a thin patty (about 2 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick), slightly larger than your buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat a separate skillet (or wipe out the onion skillet) over medium-high heat. Working in batches, cook beef patties 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Top each patty with one slice of cheese (halved if needed) and cover with a lid or foil to melt (about 1 minute). Transfer to a plate.
Wipe out skillet, add a small amount of butter, and toast slider buns cut-side down over medium heat for 1–2 minutes until golden and crisp.
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Layer one cheese-topped beef patty on top, then add a generous spoonful of caramelized onions. Close with the top bun and serve warm.
