Frito Pie

Brown the ground protein in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks, about 5–7 minutes.
Drain excess fat if needed, then add taco-seasoning and stir until the protein is evenly coated. Add 0.25 cup water and simmer 2 minutes. Set aside.
In the same skillet (or a separate one), warm the cooked beans over medium heat until steaming, about 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season lightly with salt and pepper if desired.
Divide crispy tortilla chips evenly among four bowls or plates.
Layer the warm seasoned protein over the chips, then distribute warm beans on top.
Pour cheese sauce generously over each pie.
Top with diced tomatoes, diced onion, sliced jalapeños, cilantro, and hot sauce to taste.
Serve immediately with a dollop of sour cream on the side. Eat with a spoon while chips are still crispy.
