Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Pasta dish combining cooked spaghetti with a meat-based tomato sauce. The sauce simmers meat, tomatoes, and aromatics into a thick, savory coating.
Ingredients
Method
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add diced onion to the meat and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Stir in minced garlic and tomato paste, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in canned tomatoes with their juices. Add oregano, salt, and black pepper to taste.
Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
While the sauce simmers, add spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package directions until al dente.
Drain the pasta in a colander and transfer to serving bowls or a platter.
Spoon meat sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot.
