Ingredients
Method
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add oil and warm water gradually, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let dough rest, covered, for 10 minutes.
Divide dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each into a smooth ball, then flatten into a thin oval (about 4×3 inches).
Brush the oval lightly with oil and fold in half lengthwise. Press gently to seal but keep hinged, creating a pocket.
Place each bun on a small square of parchment paper. Let rest 5 minutes.
Mix your chosen protein with sauce. Prepare vegetables as desired. Have all components ready before steaming.
Bring water to a boil in a pot with steamer basket. Working in batches, steam buns (parchment-side down) for 8–10 minutes until fluffy. Keep finished buns warm.
Open each warm bun and fill with protein, vegetables, and extra sauce to taste.
Top with sesame seeds and fresh herbs. Serve immediately while warm.
