Bolognese Rice Bake
A baked casserole layering seasoned ground meat, tomato sauce, and cooked rice. Finished in the oven until the top browns and edges crisp.
Ingredients
Method
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground meat and cook, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
Add marinara sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir well and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spread half the cooked rice evenly on the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
Pour half the meat sauce over the rice. Sprinkle half the Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
Layer the remaining rice over the top, then the remaining meat sauce. Top with the remaining Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
Bake uncovered for 25–35 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbling at the edges, and the top is lightly browned.
Let rest 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
