Italian Sausage and Peppers
Sautéed Italian sausage with bell peppers, onions, and tomato sauce finished with garlic and herbs. One-pan dish simmered until sausage is cooked through and peppers are tender.
Ingredients
Method
Slice the bell peppers into strips, removing seeds and stem. Slice the onion. Mince the garlic.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage, breaking it into chunks as it cooks, until browned, about 7–8 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
In the same skillet, sauté the onions and bell peppers until softened, about 8 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Return the sausage to the skillet. Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes until the sausage is cooked through and peppers are tender. Season with salt and black pepper.
Transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
