Walking Tacos
Portable handheld tacos assembled inside a crispy tortilla shell or chip bag with seasoned protein, vegetables, and toppings. Each component remains swappable to accommodate different proteins, vegetables, and flavor profiles.
Ingredients
Method
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground protein and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 8–10 minutes.
Drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Simmer for 2 minutes until sauce coats the meat. Remove from heat.
While protein cooks, dice tomato, chop lettuce, and mince red onion into small, easy-to-eat pieces. Set each on the counter in separate piles or bowls.
Crisp tortillas in the skillet over medium heat, about 1 minute per side, until lightly golden and pliable. Alternatively, line a sturdy chip bag or snack bag with a tortilla.
Layer seasoned protein inside the tortilla or bag, then add lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and salsa in that order.
Top with sour cream and hot sauce if desired. Fold or seal the tortilla around the filling, or crush the bag gently to mix. Eat directly from the tortilla or bag using a fork or spoon.
