Apple Crumble
A comforting dessert of tender fruit filling topped with a buttery, crispy crumble topping. Swap fruits, spices, and crumble bases to create endless variations.
Ingredients
Method
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch pieces.
In a medium bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated. Spread into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
Add cold butter cubes and pinch with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs with some pea-sized pieces remaining.
Fold in chopped walnuts (if using). Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the fruit filling, breaking up any large clumps.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the fruit filling bubbles at the edges. If the topping browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream, Greek yogurt, or whipped cream.
