Baked pasta dish combining cooked pasta, protein, and sauce bound with cheese. Assembled in a baking dish and baked until golden and bubbling.
Ingredients
Method
Preheat oven to 375°F. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil.
Cook pasta until al dente, then drain and set aside.
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
Add protein and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add optional vegetables and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in tomato sauce and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta with ricotta cheese (if using). Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Pour sauce mixture over pasta and stir until evenly coated. Top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Bake uncovered for 25–35 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
