Fudgy Brownies
Dense chocolate brownies made with cocoa powder, dark chocolate, butter, and eggs. Baked until set on the edges with a fudgy center.
Ingredients
Method
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine butter and dark chocolate. Stir until melted and smooth, then remove from heat and let cool for 2 minutes.
In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and eggs until pale and slightly thick, about 2 minutes.
Pour the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in walnuts if using.
Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, until the edges are set but the center still jiggles slightly when the pan is gently shaken.
Let brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert or cut into 12 squares and serve.
